I suspect that India is heavier density than the Nairobi slums. Not been to India, but I met an Indian chap in Tanzania once who told me that nothing in Africa was as bad as India.
See below...

Chap I met wasn’t a professor but a businessman. We were building a kids home in Tz and he told me we Wee wasting our time as “there’s nobody poor in Africa”. He believed it too, from his experience, as we chatted for a good few hours over dinner.
Well, I've seen slums around Bombay and Delhi, from a distance, and Kibera from within, and they don't look much different. I am willing to accept that Indian slums are bigger, but they are still slums.

I agree with your chap about the poverty and time-wasting, Africa hasn't anything on India when it comes to poverty. And I can't see the point in building stuff for countries that could easily build them for themselves - it just means the governments / kleptocracies get away with fulfilling their responsibilities and are not held to account by 'their' people.

It would be a different kettle of fish is the lock down meant everyone had to stay indoors.

Even farmers except for lambing and milking.

No slurry spreading, non essential, no drilling, non essential, no stock sales, non essential.
Farmers would soon be rioting but it's ok as they can carry on almost as normal.
I went to a Mated Ewe Sale yesterday - and sat in the office! Stock sales are permitted here (Australia) but at the sale there were only two bidders physically there. The rest of us sat at our computers and made our bids on line. We had photos, pedigrees and EVB for the ewes and projected EVBs for lambs. A new experience for me - very interesting. Certainly a sign of the times. Just for interest the sale went very very well - lots of bidders online - one mated ewe sold for $2500. It was almost a total clearance. I think there is another livestock sale coming up next month which is totally online.

Ivermectin is a medication used to treat many types of parasite infestations.[1] This includes head lice, scabies, river blindness (onchocerciasis), strongyloidiasis, trichuriasis, ascariasis, and lymphatic filariasis.[1][2][3][4] It can be taken by mouth or applied to the skin for external infestations.

Think a lot of households will be looking to cook Sunday lunch with big families at home , we are for one , we normaly dine out on Sundays
And in the evening get together around the old piano for a sing song. I don't want to be rude but it was frozen pizzas and the like folk stocked up not all the trappings for a traditional lunch. I am sure when all that was gone some poor souls had to make do with prime beef and fresh veg. But much as i would like to hope i dont think there will be a long term return to traditional cooking.

I think its total b**locks. How could a parasitic killer for cattle be used for a virus that kills humans via their lungs. Micotil used for pneumonia in cattle was banned because of the risk of accidental injection could cause death in humans.

You are almost certainly right, but... some med's have very unexpected and welcome effects beyond their originally intended use... I've heard some of the older generation on here mention sildenafil... :)

Sildenafil (Viagra) was synthesised to treat arterial hypertension, not a great step physiologically; but some malarial prophylaxes have been found very useful in entirely unrelated medical fields. (y)

Hmm... ask @Lowland1 about Nairobi's slums, collectively they beat that easily, Kibera alone may be pushing a million. Rather unsurprisingly, the KPS (police) aren't as reticent as the Indian Police regarding the use of force - but, then, the Kenyan population won't be as subservient as the Indians generally are.

I guess that once the disease-riots in Kibera kick off, they might have calmed down a bit by the time they reach places such as Namanga or Nakuru, but I doubt it. I've been unlucky enough to be around a couple of times when the law has failed in Africa, and was lucky enough to be able to get out very quickly. :(
A lot of people live in single roolm shacks without toilets or electricity. At present getting enough to eat is as usual peoples most pressing problem. We have a curfew from 7 pm to 5 am which is rigidly enforced. People are talking about a shut down which i doubt or hope won't happen because the poor will really suffer. People are more worried about the government reaction than the disease. India's shutdown is more about shutting down opposition to Modi than limiting disease spread the affects of what he is doing are hurting the poor in a terrible way. Disease riots ? It seems everyone is looking for the worst possible scenarios more likely food riots as markets are closed. And people will struggle to feed themselves and families. As to whose slums are worst well no slum is a nice slum is it wherever it is in the world.
