Talk on radio that’s lots of pubs/cafes/restaurants will now close and not do takeaways or food deliveries which were a outlet for wholesalers because of the 80% paid wage policy which will in turn put more pressure and dependence on supermarkets
Reading between the lines the government are worried food supplies seem to be finally balanced.

is it bad, that I think, serves them right ? As sure as eggs are eggs, they are not listening to the idiot that said this country doesn't need farmers.
One of the best things for farming, was Gove as head of defra, usually a backwater, he managed to push it up the importance list, in his desire to get to the 'top'. Pity he has gone, admittedly only self interest, but i'm sure he would be pro-active for us now.

I think you can take it that george eustice must be highly rated as he was the first person apart from the pm to chair the government update with boris not doing Saturday.

Macdonalds closing all stores including takeaways tomorrow - how many litres of organic milk do they buy? Cheese for all those burgers?
Something I’m no expert on but I’m sure I’ve read in the past that the manufacturing cheese , those squares used on burgers isn’t actual cheese at all but something made in a factory.
Hopefully someone will be able to put me straight on this.

surely it should be McDonald’s problem not arlas? They have gone back on the contract, Arla could ‘dispose’ of the milk for them and sell into spot or manufacturing but Mcds still pay for it?
I think most 'rules and clauses' go out the window, at the moment, it is what one might term, as 'unusual' times. This is the time when we see what the s/mkt morals are, are they going to use this as an excuse to increase their profits, because, as the shut down increases, they will be in a position, to alter prices, to their advantage, or will they take the morally correct stand, and act honestly, I wouldn't put a bet, on either.
With the shut down looking to be for a 3 month minimum, there are all sorts of supply difficulties going to occur, at the moment, apart from the idiots spring cleaning the s/mkt shelves daily, no real effect has been seen, by the public, shops etc, will have seen massive footfall drops.

Should I cancel my TB blood test?
It depends?... We had our tb test done as normal but stayed a good distance from vet anyhow.... We just moved cattle about really.... Same vet come to read results and does all our farm work... She was really good about it and just shouted to us and operated the crush herself

I was utterly disappointed to see that our milk buyer said red tractor were making no allowances and if the inspection time lapsed then we’d no longer be accredited.
I’m glad someone in the chain has some sense with your inspector
This is probably because red tractor got an ear bash on countryfile the other week about standards and welfare etc.... So now they are upping there game possibly.... If you really want to put on hold tell them your self isolating it's worked for everyone I know.... Bys some time at least to get last min things in place or renewed ??

our vets comment was, farmers are pretty healthy, isolated from the public, work out in the fresh air, and are probably the least likely to transmit or catch corona, and the group she feels the safest to work with !!!! Not, perhaps the wisest of thoughts, but quite reassuring !
To be honest one of my lads fancies the vet just a bit... So his answer to this whole thing was.... If the whole UK gets shut down.... I was like... Yeah? Then does that mean (vet) has to isolate herself here with us.... I was like oh lord!!! ????????

Blood test done last week, only allowed 2 of them on farm instead of the 4 that wanted to come. Only 1 staff member working with them (me), waiting for the results now.

Apparently they will be back to test the 10% that they blood test routinely mis-reads (insufficient blood, gone off etc etc) at some point in the future
