Covid and trailers?

I took a "past its best" fridge freezer to our local recycling centre yesterday in a small car trailer and queued to get in only to be told, " you can't come in here with that trailer". After I explained previous visits were never a problem he told me that, "due to Covid, trailers were no longer permitted on site" even though I was already on site. I returned home put roof bars on car, transfered article and lost trailer to return. When they realised I was about to launch fridge from my car roof to avoid any fridge-rash on car they actually assisted me. So where does banning trailers avoid Covid transmission? The staff at recycle didn't know so I am asking elsewhere.

No idea but the local "recycling" centre here have changed the rules you you can no longer go in with a trailer bigger than 8x4 or vans over a certain size.

So I now have to do 3 runs with my little trailer when I would do one before with the big one. So instead of one 20mile round trip its 60miles driving.

Doest really do much for saving the planet....

It's to stop commercial waste operators and businesses getting free disposal paid for by all the council tax payers. Realistically, how many householders have a domestic waste requirement that exceeds an 8'x4' single axle trailer or 3.5tonne van?

You’re not allowed to take any sized trailer, or even a pickup, to our local Council recycling centre.
I helped a neighbour lift her dead washing machine into her hatchback the other day, and she’ll have to make another journey with her knackered fridge. Both would have gone in a borrowed pickup easily enough, and been far easier to take out at the other end.

Has your trailer had a recent Covid test and was it wearing a mask?

Our recycling site used to only allow trailers in with a chitty which you had to apply for in advance, think you were allowed 12 a year. The rules were then changed to only allow trailers under 7ft long, most people buying a trailer would go for 8ft for transporting sheets etc. If you had a trailer behind a pick up it was classified as commercial and you were told to go away. I don't mind, I can stack my little camping trailer over 6ft high, there's no restriction on height.

Many councils allow pickups and trailers in with a permit

We in Highland are 8' long, as Hoff stated above. No signwriting without prior approval, which is fair enough. To be honest, I'd rather not be paying for industrial or commercial disposal in my taxes so I can live with a few restrictions on the very odd occassion stuff won't fit in my car.

I toddled along to my local recycling in ROI last week, with 8 x 5 cow box, filled with recycling stuff including a freezer.
There must have been 10 weekend warriors in front of me with car trailers of all shapes, going about their lawful business of doing what her indoors instructed over breakfast.
Masks and disinfectant were of course de rigeur.
All cars and trailers, drive through a wheel disinfectant bath on the way in and out again.

All visits in Glos have to be booked, and if you do you can take a small car trailer, pickup, van, large trailer, anything, you just have to find an available slot for your rig. Vans/pickups often have to wait 3 weeks though.

A couple of years ago before Covid I rang the council to ensure I could take my load of waste in , it was on a 4 wheel trailer. OK as long as I carried a signed statement to say it was not commercial. No hassle gave my note to the attendant. Saw at least a half doxen kittle vans carrying building waste cone through with not a word asked.
