Should the EU & UK agree to leave all the rules as they are for 3 months or so, just to make sure there is no added problems this darkest of "Covid" winters?

Any sensible politician would agree to a three month delay for the sake of all sides. Trying to usher in new border arrangements would be difficult at the best of times but in the midst of a pandemic that’s running out of control it’s impossible. They always seem to be way behind events in the ground though, and Canute-like in their defiance of the inevitable.

In a war that little disaster can make all the difference - time to capitalize. If I were Barnier think I would just carry on aiming for Jan 1st. A few supermarkets on panic mode late tomorrow morning ready for the early evening news cut with queues of trucks at Dover and rotting fruit in France might concentrate the mind of Billy Bunter and the ERG. Just sayin'. I doubt very much any of these respectful statesmen would even think if such a tactic.

It will be very interesting what happens tomorrow.Surely this new strain must be in the rest of Europe already? It seems a bit one sided at the moment. Its hard to view some of this as not political..............it could backfire.

This is exactly why I think a no blame Moratorium is needed.
To stop the w!lly waving from the zealots on both sides, while all our vulnerable people are under threat.
To be honest having the 1st of Jan as change over day was bloody stupid in normal circumstances due to xmas shut downs etc, atm it would make complete sense to say look we are going no deal but it will start 1st March, we are keeping talking to sort a deal out but firms know what's happening. Of course for that all to happen it takes all politicians of both parties in this country and all the ones in the EU to act like grown ups and not pansies.
When the new variant has shown to have been in other eu countries for sometime it will harden the resolve of the uk so will backfire badly on them. In the old days the last thing you did to brits was kick them while we were down guaranteed to make us pull together, not sure in the current woke state we are living in this will still happen but live in hope that there are enough decent folk to rally round.

Unfortunately that ship sailed back in July. I think any extension to the WA involves serious legal implications on both sides plus the all 27 EU members would have to be in agreement. What might be possible is an implementation agreement for 12 to 24 months but this would require some form of trade agreement to actually implement, which is looking increasingly unlikely. Although, if the level plying field was agreed on I am sure the Fishing irrelevance could be kicked down the road for a year or two.

Not at all. He'd be happy to see our country fail.

Not true. I’d be happy to see your country “take back control”, from the bunch of populist snake oil salesmen, who have poisoned British politics, and seized control of power. The complete nonsense of their approach, and flagrant fake news agenda, has delivered Britain to a total crisis. Of course they never really expected the people to be fooled, and they never really expected to have to deliver on the false promises made.
Your own DUP, are the ultimate example of this mind boggling stupidity, arrogance and dereliction of duty, led to them waking up on count day, realising they had handsomely contributed to a catastrophic decision. They have then over and over misstepped politically, to completely undermine your precious place in the union.
So no Sir, I certainly don’t want your country to fail.
But I would like to see, the permanent political demise of those idiots who brought all this about.

By the way, while others in London and NI have miserably failed in their Covid duties to the people they represent, one man has stood head and shoulders above all others, and him with very limited resources.
Boris and the whole Tory cabal of yes men political pygmies he has gathered around him, should be locked up!
Arlene, Michelle, and a whole host of senior DUP politicos should be banned from standing again.

Robin Swann, can hold his head up! Man is wasted in that dysfunctional system
