sunday morning ,having rec our letter of invitation to get the vaccine on tuesday have tried and searched at least twice/day to get booked in ,however ,there has only been about 5 possible places to go all of which are out of our area the nearest being 28 miles away and only with appointments for either a few days in advance or not able to book both of us in to the same place within an hour or so of each other plus with the added complication of having to book the 2nd jab at the same venue it is proving very frustrating and difficult to get organised . i am beginning to think that as folks who havnt botthered the drs much we are well down the pecking order just because we work even though we are over pension age and contribute in no small way to the coffers. We are asked not to contact our local surgery but im thinking i should as others in the village are getting jabbed locally

Our friends mum , in her 90s, only got the first jab because they phoned the Dr! She was delayed as they'd run out of vaccine. When she was jabbed, her daughter asked about the second and told no date, we'll text you when there's vaccine!
Our friend had her jab the other day and asked for her mother, don't phone us, we'll text you?
What about my second jab?
Don't phone us, we'll text you!

So much for AZ vaccine not working

Covid vaccination has had a significant impact on the risk of serious illness in Scotland, an analysis shows.

The work led by Public Health Scotland found by the fourth week after the first dose hospitalisations were reduced by 85% for the Pfizer jab and 94% for the AstraZeneca vaccine.

It is the first sign of the impact of Covid vaccines in the real world in the UK.

Figures on England are expected to be released later.

Among the over 80s, the combined figure was an 81% reduction.

It is very good news, couple of thing to bare in mind. Scotland has few cases of the new variants and there won't be nearly as much data on people who had the AZ vaccine compared to the Pfizer which was being used 3/4 weeks earlier. But fingers crossed.

Meanwhile Nice is running 700 cases / 100k
And macron still wont lockdown, after the half term finishes there could be a huge rise in numbers, looking on webcams at the resort we were going to there was a lot of people about, still I guess if they contest the case numbers wont rise. I'm watching some cycling while having lunch, one day race in Belgium, they went through a town, loads of people no masks and no social distancing, funny how many criticise the UK but others appear worse

Why? The national average is only about 190 per 100,000 of the population. Our region is only about 110. If the English variant or another gets out of control than he may have to go into lockdown again. A lot of French and particularly healthcare workers are refusing the AZ vaccine, saying the would sooner wait for one of the others deemed to be more effective against these new variants.

Ha ha,
This reminded me of a good few years back. I had a Czech girl working for me who got terribly homesick - every time I walked in the house she had a bloody webcam of Ceska Budejovice town square on my computer

Yorkshire could do that, daily

If they had supplies

What are France playing at?
I think the job is slower with the Pfizer vaccine compared to the AZ, but twice as many people in France have now been fully vaccinated than the UK. And it's a big job to persuade the French to even bother getting vaccinated.
