Business secretary says people can decide themselves if they need to self isolate, 10 mins later no 10 says this completely wrong & all pinged people should self isolate. Makes you wonder how we ever got into this mess with such a competent bunch doesn't it.

Well, little by little Billy Bunter is letting us know the future. Vaccine Passports it is. So yesterday it was Nghtclubs. Today sporting venues exceeding 20k. Tomorrow - who knows. Whatever it is the digital ID card has arrived. New smart pone everybody - even those who do not have one nor want it - yep, reckon so.

Pub last week:

"You have to check in."
"Not got a phone."
"Put name and number on pad."
"Do you want to see my I'd?"
"Why would I need that, you're over 25."

William Bunter, 01234 567890 it is then. Looked at the list. Saw two "Mike Hunts" and twigged it was a pisstake.

I don't know if you can still pass it to others or not. I read some research that reckoned vaccinated people were far less likely to transmit the virus but that was a few months ago now.

You can catch any disease you've been vaccinated against. In their most basic form (leaving aside developments such as mRNA tech) vaccines are a weakened form of the disease which allows your body to manufacture antibodies to quickly overcome any challenges when you do catch the disease itself.

You can still transmit it if you have been vaccinated - microbiology doesn't really do absolutes. You are, however, much less likely to transmit it because if you have no symptoms you will not be coughing/sneezing the virus into the air (breathing out normally means particles travel much less far). You will also fight the disease off much more quickly, this reducing the length of time you actually are contagious considerably.

Nothing is a sliver bullet - its all about trying to minimise risk as much as possible.

The more cases are suppressed, the less chance the virus has to mutate, which is the reasoning behind the strategy to minimise transmission as much as possible until most people are vaccinated - its a much quicker route to herd immunity with fewer deaths.

I’m sure I’ve read that many double vaxed ARE hospitalised. and on this link dying too

Yes, no vaccines are anything like 100% effective, but they reduce incidences enough so that in, over time, certain diseases can be eradicated - remember polio?

As far as I understand it, the double vaccinated who are admitted/dying are mostly immunocompromised/old (which amounts to a similar thing). The reason being that if you are immunocompromised, your immune system is poorer at mounting immune responses. Even with the added protection of telling your immune system how to fight the virus by vaccinating you, it is still intrinsically poor at doing so, so you are still at higher risk of developing symptoms.

Both surely , you just would have had a shed load more deaths here if we hadnt vacced to the extent we have ??
The virus is very virulent and in the unvaccinated had a death rate of 3% and so assume only half the population caught it the deaths would have been just over one million - I think more as only a fraction who needed it would have received medical attention and so the death rate % would have risen slightly.
Thankfully with masks, social distancing and the vaccination we are going to come out of this a lot better. Current new cases are about 300,000 per week and deaths are about 700 or 0.25% and that percentage figure will get better as the third vaccination shot gets rolled out.

20 million people caught it here before vaccines used, mortality rates similar to normal, better than many this century...tells you all you need to know about the so called deadly virus

Boring.

Don't worry though, AY.4.2 will give you another chance to lay into masks and social distancing :ROFLMAO:

Just out of interest, i am potentially going back to a football match soon whats tge risks of catching covid in football ground with around 10_000 in it?

Low to very low.
I just pop a mask on when moving around the concourses with other folks.
If you are in the Exec boxes with strangers, pop a mask on, sat on the posh seats take it off.
If you do pick it up and are jabbed the consequences are also greatly reduced.

As a footnote went to see UD Las Palmas when on my hol`s and it was mandatory to wear a mask inside the stadium at all times unless eating/drinking.

There are no exemptions out there except for children under 6.
