Has anyone managed to get any cows turned out yet, cant imagine they have what with the bad cold spring but just wondered if anybody, perhaps in the south,is tempted to open the doors?

Turning out as they calf - first ones will now have been out 3-4weeks.

They've made a mess of 1 bit of field but things have firmed up a lot this past week.

We don't have 'cow grass'. With silage ground shut off we would need to half our stock numbers to run cows and sheep separately... the farm would not be viable

Got last of ours out today, first half on Sunday. Have had 20 acres shut up since the start of lambing and tilled it 2 weeks ago. has a good bite to eat on it now.

Mine getting turned out tomorrow, only few bales left of straw and silage so starting turn out. Grass coming slowly and it's beginning to dry up ! Few mag buckets and some cow nuts should keep them right.
Couple of neighbors had there's out for a week or two, they ran out of keep

Mine going out as they calve, not much grass so put silage out but they must be getting something as they are not eating much silage.

Always amazed at how little other feed stock need even if they’ve a small amount of grass this time of year.

Turned out first cows on 5th April

That was the day they were turned out. Same cows are now getting silage in a ring feeder as planned grazing that farm hasn't gone to plan.

The other farm is being strip grazed of sorts and is growing well now.

These aren't meant to rub it in! Just shows the diversity across a small island!

Still feeding cows inside here morning and night, bit frustrating as plenty of other spring work to be done but hardly enough grass for the sheep yet,put cows out aswell and we`d be bare all summer, another week might get some out.

ours have been out a month as we'd run out of straw and due to calf. The higher fields were dry and had some grass but ours on now on little grass Being moved everyday but slowly running out of fields. Its adding to the work load as we only move once a week.

All out by day for the last month.
Since Monday out day and night.
A little worried the grass will get away on them, just need the conditions to graze it tight.
Rolling and sowing fields as they come out.
