Went out to look at Cows and Calves this morning and was amazed to find a cow with a second calf that was untagged. Must have been born yesterday and previous one was born last Friday.
I have heard of this but not so far apart. How do I explain to BCMS?

You can register twins. I'd give them the same birth date. 28 days aswell so unless you are late can't see an issue. Its scot eid iv to use, might be different.

What sort of ground were they born on? Had one a few years ago calved in a rough patch, dark red calf. Next morning she had a lighter coloured calf. Just assumed the calf had dried out.
Two days later she had a dark coloured calf again:scratchhead:

Went for a more thorough investigation. Turned out she had two, but was only bringing them out into the open, one at a time

Don't do that. Might invite a huge problem at inspections. Just register it the same date as the other one.
We had a cow had 2 calves 48 hours apart. I'm sure it wasn't just hiding as it would have been seen.
Will they accept that the cow has had another calf 5 days later?especially if you'd registered it the day it calved.

Would seem a bit odd if you've registered others in-between.an the twins numbers don't run in sequence

Use the same date. He never saw it born so doesn't actually know it. So any date would be a guess.

It calved on the Friday and was turned away to grass on Saturday afternoon.
Checking the cows today and it had a dry heifer calf that was less than 24 hours old.

Luckily my Son hadn't registered it so it will be fine.
I presume it is unlikely to be a Freemartin as I guess they were in separate parts of the Uterus and the other was a Bull calf.

Certainly two very good calves.

Only a problem if you`ve already registered 1st calf - I`d be seeing if my vet would back me up if the first one is already registered, and then see what I could make of the pen pushing ********s...... NB No cattle here so ignore advice by all means. Remember our old man didn`t believe us as teenagers when a ewe that had already had one lamb had another a few weeks later.... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Edit, just seen your recent post - that was lucky!! Certainly an unusual job.
