Cows bulling

Our Autumn calving herd started calving in October (heifers calved sept). We turned the Bulls out just before Christmas. There was a bulling frenzy for about 10 to 14 days and now it's gone really quiet. Only one or two cows were seen bulling over the last week, none over the last two days. Can they all have got in calf that fast?

My bull went out with 33 in July. Nothing seen a bulling since they came in the end of September. Bull still with them as nowhere else for him at moment. Since new year been at least six a bulling :banghead: scanning them on Friday to see what is going on.

Have the same here, and also the same last year, don't fret they will probably be all in calf, Bulls going in at Xmas full of energy and raring to go would have been able to serve a fair few in a couple of weeks, now just the mopping up for you fingers crossed .

Were they coming bulling before the bulls went in?
All you can do is scan them in a couple of weeks if you've still seen nothing. I wouldn't assume anything  Do you book the services down or is it a bit of a free-for-all? :)

Don't worry if they looking well as it's just phantom bulling as I had it last year and it was like some gurt lesbian orgy in my yard but the only none interested party in the yard was the bull which being new to the herd last spring and young id wondered if he was queer but he was totally in the clear at scanning and didn't get his ride to the abattoir and was soon to become a proud daddy, many, many time's over

Yes they were bulling before the Bulls went in. They are looking well and on good quality silage. We don't record bullings but one bunch of forty had two Bulls (one doing days, other doing nights) and the other bunch of twenty had one bull in days only. They would be repeating about now if there was a problem surely?

It's good they were showing beforehand. Sounds like plenty of manpower too. Unless they all come bulling now, I'd still scan in a few weeks. Hopefully you'll be smiling :)

New bull last year with heifers. My first shot at big time suckler guy ;) He covered all 34 last year. 30 of them in six weeks. So reasonably confident but planted that seed of doubt in the mind. Friday will tell all.

All ours bulled inside 3 weeks at end of may and confirmed no repeats when scanned so it can happen only 7 cows though

Passed my TB test :)
31 out of 33 cow in calf :)
Majority put at 6-7 month in calf, bull went out mid July so he's got stuck in straight away :)
That's brilliant with all those in calf and great news on your TB test.
Had my cow's TB test read today as well and thank fully all clear again even tho almost everyone in this area is down.

Slightly off topic, but remember one of my milkers as a second calver repeated twice after ai, was bulled 2/3 times kept bulling, vet had a look and she was pd in calf 3/4 months, was the same year in year out, game girl!! Had a bought cow who was too baggy last summer, come bulling out of the blue, decent condition coming in oct/nov and I held her for jan trade of cull cows, was bulling every 3 weeks when in, and bull serving her, if she hadn't lost a tag she would have gone start of jan, missed a Monday, ordered a tag mon afternoon, Wednesday I thought I saw her bagging a tiny bit, I did a rectal to feel a big, well full term calf, calved about 10 days later. I slate those that kill forward in calf cows, I was nearly one of them!!
