cows showing strong long heats

once we start, we serve everything bulling, sub 365 days CI, there are 31 cows, lowest 281 days, that was a bit quick, and she hasn't milked to well !
Herd figures are slightly skewed, as we carried some dec/jan/feb cows over. 82 cows, in spring block, 63 held 1st service.
Hol breeders are putting increasing importance on fertility, so the ayr herds should be able to get better 'performance'.
What bull did you put to it to get a 281 day calving index? Usual gestation is 283 days which means serving her 2 days before she calved or have I miss understood?

hereford bull, uniform tells me 281 days, quite correct, usual is 283, but nmr gestation period seems to differ from uniform, whether they 'calculate' each bulls gestation length, no idea, but at times, niggles me ! But she went day after calving.
she obviously didn't want to hang around, and has definitely won the race for shortest preg
