Cows turning

If you are trying to turn a cow around in a small space, you may notice they more often than not turn to the left.

I was told at college the thought was they were protecting the unborn calf. So, for example, being chased by a predator and as a last resort turning to face down the threat will turn left so as to keep the right loin away from it.

I have a drafting pen at my robot exits where I often touch the right loin to check calf against service date. And the beggars will circle anticlockwise around the pen all day long as if to keep me off their right side. Mighty frustrating.

Still no solid proof about it!

Im sure I read a story about a farm over in the States. Big operation, they had a rotary parlour going anticlockwise. They werent happy with it - cows took longer to load, longer to get off, it was always a hassle. Built another rotary next door going clockwise and boom, everything clicked into place.

Come to think of it, I dont think i've seen a rotary going anti-clockwise

I'll research it!
Have you never heard of her? She's an autistic American woman, who has a connection with cattle. All the big ranches around the world design there yards on what they are told from temple. No one will question her, as they will be wrong.
She designs slaughterhouses to keep animals calm before the end, markets to keep animals flowing through them. She's a bovine genius.
