CP7 / GN7 checks compulsory ?

CP7 / GN7 checks are they compulsory ?

They are for gas equipment cutting touches cylinders ect and welders with gas
boc have rung me up last week saying i need an inspection think its just a moneymaking exercise
do we need this test which they say is yearly.
I already have my compressor and loaders done by NFU inspector should i ask them.

BOC also contacted our place about three weeks ago. Lady on the phone sounded really nice lady but I thought I would check it out anyway. Seems you don't have to have it done by law but you do have to ensure the kit is safe by law. . After doing some digging it seems the welding kit should be inspected just like our other equipment in the workshop. It was also very cheap which worried me but the guy was very helpful when he called and gave me paperwork to cover the inspection. We have arranged to have done again next year.
