The longer the betterWe are sick of posts rotting in a few years so we bought 200lt of Creosote and have part filled 50 gallon drums and plan to stand posts in them to soak it up,how long should I leave them in or am I wasting my time
Fella was telling me that they used to light a fire under the drum to warm the creosote, so he can't have had that fire lit for weeks on end.
Guy a few miles from here had a tank and an oil central heating boiler plumbed to heat the creosote.Fella was telling me that they used to light a fire under the drum to warm the creosote, so he can't have had that fire lit for weeks on end.
Ony if the plug is inWould they be better laid out in an old bath so the post is completely submerged?
My thinking was in a bath you would need lots more creosote to cover them all and would have to reach into it up to your elbows to get last posts.Would they be better laid out in an old bath so the post is completely submerged?
Make sure you wash it before the missus gets in it afterwardsWould they be better laid out in an old bath so the post is completely submerged?
Why not buy creosote treated ones in the first place? My thinking was in a bath you would need lots more creosote to cover them all and would have to reach into it up to your elbows to get last posts.
I split 200 lt between 3 drums and put the posts in bottom 15" is covered,I may have to top it up a bit.
I might buy a bundle of those 15 yr guaranted posts so I have some to go on with whilst they old type soak.
