Doesnt work all you do is pass it on with the gun from calf to calf are they suckler s or dairy calf s

Ours are sucklers, we try to wake them up, give them halocur then they go to suck mum. Had problems right at the beginning of calving both last year and this year, when we started halocur on every calf the crypto stopped instantly, so I don’t buy the gun passing it on theory, sorry. The oocysts are passed on in the dung/scour in massive volumes.

So I could possibly put it in there milk? Instead of putting the bottle down it’s mouth?

Ok you need to get your calfs moved to a fresh shed if possible
And wash or get new buckets let your old buckets sterlise and dry wash your crates and dry out side if possible make sure you get ths good quailty colostrum in calfs and not hiefer colostrum make sure you are getting at least 4 litres in in tge first 3 hrs now do all these things and you not need to spend 90 quid on halcor these thing are all at your power at home.

I've had it for 8 years with suckers , usually treat with synolux effydrel and activated charcoal. This year it never came to my amazement . Only thing I did differently was make sure every ca I've had colostrum within 1 hour and clean out full bed after calving . Activated charcoal from my vet it encase s the occyst and removes it but it can't spread thereafter

We steam clean the individual pens they are in for the first 5-7 days, for each and every calf. Haven’t seen crypto in the 2 years since we started this regime and haven’t had to buy Halocur since. It’s work but it works....

We had all this a few years ago. after much advice and thought we have vaccinated cows witth Rota vec Corona and bolused cows with CosieIcure and paste calves at bith, no cases at all but it was soul destroying before,

IF in doubt weused to tube every calf with artificial colustrum but make sure it has the correct antibodies.

We vaccinate with rotavec and paste calves at birth too. To be fair if we get the vaccine timed right and Halocur everything religiously, scour incidence is very low. Always ensure good colostrum too. Coupled with intranasal vaccine our calf health this year has been the best it’s ever been. Prevention always better than cure.
