Depends how they have driven. Last year we had poachers over over us early December, where they were driving in a straight line crop damage would have been pretty negligible, where they drifted round corners at speed you could see very clearly for the whole of the growing season.
It sound far fetched but something like this always leads to further costs. for example driving to the field to measure tracks you will smash a wing mirror, when combining a stone they have ripped up will damage the header. We get this happening every few weeks. I tell the police a few thousand pounds. If some one had driven over a newly planted lawn they would not claim for the loss of the grass but the cost of rectifying the garden. You will have to make a special trip with plough, powerharrow, and drill to repair the damage, minimum charge £250 per trip. Bag of seed £500. 4 extra trips with the sprayer and 3 with the spread as the newly planted crop will be at a different growth stage to the rest of the field £150 each. Same with combine, escort, header trailer, grain trailer, baler. ££££. Will also have to check the area for glass and other contaminants. If it’s just a one off you won’t notice the difference come harvest, but if you tell the police that they won’t be interested. Not that they can do much anyway. We got a couple of reg numbers a few weeks ago of some 4x4s. Brake the speed limit unintentionally and you have to tell the police who was the driver at the time. Cause criminal damage in an un taxed un insured vehicle and the police have no powers to force the owner to tell them who was driving.
