Crovect is it effective?

You're almost as cynical as me. 'Normal' Clik is just the same. Clik Extra just has more ai so it lasts a few weeks longer. Useful if you live in those tropical areas where the grass grows all year round and the fly season is longer.

Like us down in the tropical West of Cornwall.

Personally I think Ectofly, crovect and Molecto are a waste of time for prevention. Effectively you need to have a blue sheep/lamb for 100% cover. just use crovect as a treatment should we get flystrike before shearing which we did this year.

I always keep a bottle of crovect for treatment. Tend to use click early on for preventing. Got the ewes in yesterday and found one with strike all over its back, sprayed on the crovect and enjoyed watching all the dying maggots wriggle out! She's fine this morning.

I really don't like putting Crovect round open wounds - I still trim them back and use fly cream.

Also @GTB do you use it for ticks all season? If so what application pattern do you use is it always the tick one? I'm asking because normally I don't have to worry about ticks until August but there was a lot about in the early part of this season and I was wondering about treating but then they seemed to drop back to insignificant levels.

If your using something for season long tick prevention, use Dysect early on. Some complain it's awful stuff to use (irritation when applying it, much like some say of Crovect). It is a similar price as Crovect, but lasts longer (also has a much longer withdrawal period, so that needs to be considered before using it).
I do my hill lambs in late April, as I put them back to the hill, and they have only just lost their cover in the past week. Then if I feel it's needed I will apply a branded Crovect, now, to last until weaning. That will also give short term fly cover once weaned before I (hopefully) get them away fat.

Apart from Clik all these SP pour ons are horrible to use.

Last week I was not well after a long day of weaning lambs and applying dysect to some in hot sunshine.

Temperature,dizziness,upset stomach,not funny,think I had heatstroke however the dysect can't have helped.

I would need to go check now but I was sure fly and tick was same. Certainly agree you spray a pin stripe for lice.

I just always use the fan nozzle, and spray as I would for flies. It works just like that

They are all nasty - full waterproofs, mask and gloves as far as I'm concerned.

Didn't think that was the worst one. In fact it's the one I'd be least concerned about.
Having said that they're all chemicals to be treated with respect.

It had one night to dry and then the heavy rain came, cant see any blue on them now
