Crowds at sporting events

The scientists are there to give the government the advice it needs to justify policy.
That's how government works.
Politicians lack credibility and utilise the credibility that scientists' possess.
Of course. Actually come to think of it, what skills do politicians possess? Is it me or did politicians of old actually posses the skills to lead the country? The trouble today is the media: we all know too much too fast and comment on it like I am now! 😂

Fans I believe can return to football with the right measures in place, I think grounds like arsenal and Manchester United could have 12-000 in with social distancing, but perhaps no away fans for a while

When there was a trial of small crowds Oxford just let local ST holders in, seemed to work.
For the "exiles" we get iplayer access to watch the games in lieu of our ST.
That`ll probably be it for the rest of this season.

Insurance?

Nope. Ollie was referring to capacity in the health care system, particularly ITU places. Insurance does nothing to provide extra capacity. My tongue in cheek post was to highlight other 'dangerous' 'normal times pre covid' that might place unnecessary pressure on the ITU capacity - which no one batted an eyelid about. But mention going to a football match now with covid and may as well say I am out to murder your mother.

If the Government would let people leave the country you could go and watch the Cricket in India

Yep, but the UK government (the Conservative Party) considers such a reason to leave the country as a holiday and not necessary, thus illegal. Everyone should print out that sentence and pin it to their fridge. And then think back 12 months. And think forward 12 months.

Yes, I thought same when I was watchin a bit of cricket earlier. And it shows why any country in the world could decide to rock up at Dover with an Army and walk straight in to the UK and take over.
I've thought that from the beginning. You don't need nuclear missiles just a mildly fatal virus and the white flags will go up. Especially if the invading army consists of young healthy individuals.

Corona has proven, if it needed proving, that football has sold its soul to the devil. To allow the 'top' teams to carry on playing, for no reason other than the tv money, and to tell grassroots football to stop, is both immoral and illogical. Our local club can have all of its fans stood 2m apart anyway, but no, had to stop. Money ruins sport.

Most of non league has been declared null and void,
Be lots of players with no football clubs to play for at the moment, although some being semi pro will have jobs

TV money seems quite a good reason. The failure is in getting some of that cash down to the lower leagues. A rather different consideration than your approach of all out.

Players who have jobs will, hopefully, be ok. It is the clubs themselves who are suffering, that few hundred quid on a Saturday paid the essential bills. Why should they be having to hold raffles to get money out of folks when the prem is still raking it in, that's just wrong.
