Crown rust in Winter oats

Location
Devon
Have a field of winter oats, in a field that has been long term maize.

Been clean as a whistle so other than a herbicide has had no other treatments as the aim is to grow it as cheaply as possible.

Been checking it weekly and last week it was clean but today its quite clear that its now infected with Crown rust.

Is it still worth treating at this late stage and if so what with??

Thanks, that's easy because I don't think anything's approved this late anyway.

Besides that, any rust infection now, even total leaf cover, is very unlikely to hurt since at that stage grain fill has finished and the crop is starting to ripen.

Thanks, that's great info(y)

Grain fill is well on and the heads like a decent size.

I did notice yesterday that it looks like its starting to ripen off as when you look across the field the tops of the plants have a slight brown tinge to them ( thou I guess that could be rust )

Mind if I jump in here guth? Being encouraged to apply second fungicide on spring oats. Cost £7.5 an acre. Get on and do it?

If you've got rust or mildew in them then yes but keep it cheap. Beware the cut off dates for products as even on spring oats you'll be past the last safe stage for many. Comet/Flyer cut off is ear emerged. Some teb products & Corbel can go on later but at least 5 week before harvest.

Mildew in the canopy. Suppose the crop has potential so will spray again

There are few chem choices that can go on this late. Folucur tebucobaxole can go up to grain watery ripe. I can't think there is a harvest interval given how long it takes to go from that stage to bring fit to cut.
