CS SW9 with SFI SAM3

We’ve got some permenant pasture we entered into SW9 seasonal livestock removal last spring, we’re now looking closely at putting that same ground into SAM3 herbal lay. Can this be done? The blurb in the press release for SFI seems fairly positive it wouldn’t be a problem, but SW9 isn’t listed specifically in the list of compatible schemes with SAM3.

Has anyone had any clarity on this?

Many thanks

First thing to do is you can check on the SFI application to see if those parcels are free for SFI options. However, I fear you may be disappointed. I had a client where land was entered into SW9 in a Mid Tier application submitted last August and which the farmer accepted in November. We then came to complete a SFI application intending to use SAM3 on the permanent pasture entered as SW9 only to find those parcels were unavailable for SFI options. As it was we submitted and SFI application with SAM3 on the parcels that were available and then emailed RPA to cancel the Mid Tier scheme which started Jan 1st 2024. took a few weeks but the parcels are now available for SFI and it is on my to do list to submit another SFI application. Hope that helps.

You’re right, I did exactly that and found it’s not available. Our CS also went in last summer but we’ve not actually had any money yet so I think I’ll get on and cancel it so we can put in SAM3

thanks

Regrettably I've got 100 acres in SW9. Would love to put into SAM3 but from my interpretation of the rules, will have to wait out the midtier agreement unless they allow transfers of midtier to SFI which may open up options.
