Cubicle dusting powder

Up to now we’ve been using Cubipowder sourced from RWN but swab testing the beds has shown they have a high bacterial loading impacting in the milk quality ie bactoscans
Need to try an alternative and have had Nadins Hydramix suggested

Anyone using this? Pros/cons?

Nadins is denser than "pure" hydrated lime, and supposedly less harsh so less chance of burning and less likely to blow off beds.

Have customers on both pure hydrated lime and Nadins, all are happy with what they use so potentially down to individual choice.

Our 2 most popular products:

http://www.nadins.co.uk/products/nadins-hydramix

https://www.singletonbirch.co.uk/birch-lime/biolime-h90/

Not much difference in price between the 2.

Have you done much with a product called Envirex? https://www.kilcoint.com/en/product/envirex/

My usual stuff has gone price uncompetitive.

I find hydrated and nadins make the cows sore, cement kiln dust is about the best product I’ve used, for the numbers your bedding I’d be using aglime.

We were introduced to a product called Mistral. Its not cheap but you dont use very much. It has worked really well for us - far better than the hydrated lime or Nadins lime we used previously

Will we have to use face masks applying the lime down the line??
I was a H&s meeting recently and lime in construction is going to see some changes. Seemingly a major cause of lung cancer??

Lime is bloody nasty stuff and it's a HSE nightmare once you start getting employees using it. I cannot stress this enough. I've seen the eye damage done by lime myself. Having used lime myself in the past on cubicles I would not do it again under any circumstances, it's just not worth the risk. It sits in the folds of clothing and can get in people's eyes that way long after the googles and mask are gone.

Mistral is a great product. Also very good when mixing batches of pigs , to stop fighting! I assume that the scoopful that I throw over them all makes them all smell the same, so they can't tell
which are the newcomers.

Might be similar to something a rep was trying to sell to us a few years ago. One of the selling points was that it was “perfumated”!
