Just ordered some creosoted timber to do more CSS grant fencing.
Working on a reasonabley straight 400 m length needing 6 strainers
6 strainers £232.80
200 posts £980
8 props £58
4 rolls net £384
2 Rolls barb £70
Staples etc estimate £25
Total materials £1750 £4.40 / m
+ labour
Then post & rails for finishing the ends
Grant is £4.90 / m
Suppose it`s not too bad a deal getting materials paid for

Where did you get your prices from? Is that 6ft posts? 3-4 inch.

Looks like they have changed the rules to allow metal.... but for agreements starting next year.

Your materials are a good price. As said earlier, lengthen your post spacing. Depending on mild or ht ( hopefully ht) and the fence purpose, you can stretch that to 3.5/4 metres. If you can save a bit on posts you could put an extra strand of barbed up, just above the stocknet to stop animals leaning on it.

certainly I think I am going to use HT in the future to extend the fence post spacings, almost knocking £1.50 a metre off the materials cost, may have to up my game on strutting the king posts. I am guessing HT you join in the middle?

yes, joining in the middle will work a treat. Presuming you have a set of boundary clamps. Then join the wire with a knot, crimp sleeves or gripples( I’m not a big fan, but they’re easy to use and you can retension if you need to).
