Well it made it to site ok!! Delivered half of the grids last monday and gained an extra job. They wanted a couple of beams to suspend it in the hole at the correct level using plinths under the overhang. Came up with some brackets that were usable for both sections as they put the main in one day and the intake the next. Went back on Tuesday with the rest of the grids and armed with bracketry and pre drilled beams and drilled and bolted as required. As far as I know its now in the ground and joined. Plan is to go back later this week and weld the join to seal it. Got to hire a welder generator as there is no power on site.

Bitumen specified by the customer. Not sure why bitumen to be honest, I'm assuming its better in concrete than normal paint.

It covers the welding nicely though!!(y)(y)

Not that they need covering you understand!!;);)

steel will not corrode in concrete at all.
Concrete is a strong alkalie, which does not supprot corrosion.
When you look at old buildings where the reinforcement is bubbling the concrete off, it is because teh Co2 in the air has neutralised the concrete, and corosion starts.

fine bit of work there mad welder, its a behemoth when its in place.
how long dose it take you to build one?.
Cheers. About 3 weeks from start to finish for two of us on this one. I think i spent a day and a half working out stuff beforehand as mych as i could to make ot easier and make best use of the steel. Its very tempting to plough straight in because the first stages are reatively easy. A bit of planning with the order you make it in and how you cut sheets helps later on and you don't end up with wasted part sheets thst aren't quite big enough for other uses.
