So Ken Clarke's suggestion is getting a bit of coverage at the moment. For those of you who have looked into this, what are the con's?

Unable to make our own trade deals? Looks like that isn't going to come to much as it is anyway.

Must stay in regulatory alignment? We'll need to do that if we intend to trade with the EU anyway.

Which doesn't bother me as long it applies to the UK as a whole, and not Northern Ireland in isolation. It sorts out the trade negotiations, which are not going to go our way (the EU will make sure of that), and it stumps Irish and Scottish nationalists from having an excuse to call for independence polls.

With a Customs Union comes Freedom of Movement and No UK trade deals. Continued decimation of UK industry with the help of the EU & Westminster.

Mass immigration continues with a London Elite unwilling to do anything about it. Personally I would say the London Elite must be profiteering from mass immigration and the side effects massively.

Regardless, I don't see any Westminster Party, Lords or Civil Service motivated to do anything other than what they have for the past 2+ decades.

Which amounts to filling their pockets with as much money as possible whilst burying news such as the source of knife crime and the mass rape of young white girls.

Mass rape..... you need to stop spewing this shite... its like me saying the catholic church is mass raping young white boys.

The word mass indicates something...

So whats the remain elites reason for encouraging knife crime?

If you want to call hiding the mass rape of young white girls by gangs mainly of "Pakistani Origin" for 30 year as "Shite" then quite frankly you are not a human being.

Get lost.

In the spirit of a spade being a spade
@wanton dwarf your are a bigot.

A bigot is someone who is intolerant to another persons opinion and prejudices.

It is prejudices which created the PC Liberal climate where not only mass rape occurred but the Jimmy Saville was able to operate and also Catholic priests.

I'd rather be called all the sick names under the sun than remain in a society dominated by PC Liberal dogma and rhetoric which facilitates crimes.

So IMHO you are a bigot of the worst kind .. faced with the facts you still are living in denial.

Ok, so fair point about the immigration coming with customs Union. I probably knew that a year ago, but in all of the horrendous muddle, it's easy enough to forget some of the precise negotiating conditions. Ok, so that won't be popular.

Its not mass rape just like the Catholic church abuse is not mass abuse - its a shite daily mail headline. Stop recycling this misleading inaccurate statement that is perpetuated by far right websites.

If you want to spout Tommy Robinson nonsense get back to the dark web sites and agree with the scum that create and populate them.

Well, language aside, he does have a point: Police afraid to prosecute, for fear of the racism charge!

It's simply not what the people voted for.

Parliament have left things in a way where we are going to have to leave with no deal and forget about Europe completely.

A customs union does not has freedom of movement.

A customs union is different from a free trade area, in which means no tariffs are charged on goods and services moving within the area. The single market is a broader agreement that encompasses the free movement of goods, services, capital and people
The reality is different I'm afraid .

What do you mean the reality? The EU has a customs Union with Turkey and this does not have freedom of movement. In every thing I have read there is no legal requirement for freedom of movement in any customs union. Also most custom unions also do not cover for all products or materials or services.
