Cut finger

Discussion in 'Manflu Corner' started by Neddy flanders, Mar 25, 2018.

  1. deep cut across side of index finger. Didn't go and get stitched. Wound now almost healed' but finger numb and any pressure gives a nerve jolt like touching an electric fence. Can nerves be sown back together or is that it? Any point seeing a quack?

  2. No point seeing a quack if it's nearly healed - nerves will heal themselves and find new routes - may take 8-12 weeks though. Be patient and before you know it you'll be back to normal.

Did the same years ago. They tell me nerves grow back as quick as hair would grow. Mine still feels odd still and gives that little jolt when pushed in the wrong place.

    Ouch
Go get it stitched, or at least keep it steristripped to hold it together

  7. Give it a good slosh out with salt water and stick a dressing on it - iodine if you have one. Be right as rain in no time. Make sure the dressing is tight 'ish and you will never know you had an injury once all healed. Max two weeks and it'll be good to go xx

There’s no way I’m going to hospital, lambing and calving atm and I can’t stand the place....it’ll have to be a farmer repair

    Thank you

  10. Stick a glove on it once cleaned and dressed and that should see you through. Change dressing every couple of days xx

@Northeastfarmer Or every time the glove leaks - thought I better say it just in case there was a belief that the glove was a magic talisman rather than a barrier to nasties. :)

Dip it in the strong iodine, it will be fine, keep it covered for a couple of days.
