Cut rushes, how long to wait till spray.

Cut the rushes of a 12 acres field today, cut right to the ground, so plan to give it a really strong spray next, then alot of dung but how many weeks should l wait to spray, beginning of July?

Until the reach 12” again, then spray them

If they aren’t too dense, and you don’t plan to till and reseed you may be better with a weed wiper which targets only the rush, not the grass which presumably you wish to keep and encourage.

Just wait for new growth that you know you can hit..

Sorry to but in, but as I do things slightly differently, how long after you sprayed can you top . Some MCPA and some Roundup

Iv do it that way to, l did l bit last June, big strong buggers and didn't cut them at all. 99% kill, really strong spray and went slow, just put some 25,5,5 on the field and looks a thousand time better, so l wouldn't cut them, but every one different. I may top it in late July just for a tidy up and odd ones that was missed.

I was told to wait until they just begin to flower, and use a wetter, probably late June, also maybe more effective done late evening, as it takes longer to dry and gets more of a chance for ‘take up’. Seen rushes that were all wiped with roundup in the same day, the stuff done later in the day had a noticeably better kill.
