Our main car is quiet badly scratched in many areas and I’ve been looking at cutting compounds to try and rectify them basic tcut hasn’t worked. After a bit of investigation one of the best ones is this stuff :-https://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/koch-chemie/h8-02-heavy-cut.aspx
Now I’ve never tried anything like this and was hoping for advice or if it’s worth doing , dose it work ? Next option is a re spray which I don’t fancy.

T cut is the work of the devil. Infact id probably guess you’ve made it worse than it was...

Can you get some pics of it? If you can feel the scratch with your nail it’s generally a paint job but if it’s lots of marring and wash related marks then it’s worth googling who a local detailer is to you. (NOT A VALETER) you need a proper paint detailer. He will be able to work magic and it’s surprising what they can correct with the right pads and products. :)

Just done a very dull L200 pickup that was splattered with white gloss paint as it was a painters truck you haven't seen anything like it but got rid of the white paint with a product called the pink stuff and a scotch bright pad ,£1 IN POUND LAND . Then i gave it a good mopping with the electric polisher /mop with G3 cutting compound and a polish by hand has come up as good as new .

But an old bonnet from a scrap yard to practise on first. Go slow and apply very light pressure. Most of all, enjoy! It’s so rewarding .

I personally use the Menzerna range of polishes. The lower the number the more it cuts. Use a machine polisher and they are pretty easy to use. Like these:

There's no point on a layman spending lots of money on fancy products, the cheapest nastiest paste type scuff and scratch remover will generally get the job done. If tcut didn't do anything, I'd say it's insurance & respray time.

But this thread is useless without pics.

It’s not exactly lots of money and after an evening watching you tube videos I’m ready to give it a go it’s not that complicated.
Thanks for the replies

I would take it to a local car detailer. Da polishers are very dangerous in the wrong hands. They’ll be able to check thickness of paint and buff the least amount off. A hundred quid will seem cheap after you add up compounds and da and all

Yeah, but if it's f*cked, it's f*cked. Whatever, it's your money.

Why bother unless you are trying to sell it? All this anal car worship is bollox. Just use it to get from A to B, who cares what it looks like?
Sometimes it’s nice to be in something nice.

I don’t baby my daily work pickup (Sprinter) but I always keep it clean.
When I was running Navaras I kept them spotless. When they look happy, they feel happy!
