cutting roofing nails

A good pair of bolt cutters makes short work of those nails / bolts and if its asbestos sheets you wont have to worry about raising dust with a cutting wheel or some of the more brutal suggestions on here.

I did a few of these for a local estate years ago, I bought 2 of those ladders that fold up on themselves and laid them over the arc of the roof and worked off them, felt suprisingly safe at the time.

We have done it from the underside using a longish bar with a bit of a point on , gone in beside the nail and lever it up . Sometimes it goes easy and just pops the nail out with no damage to the sheet another time it will pull the nail through the sheet as you lever it up .The pop rivets will the tricky bit , grinder from below as well possibly .

Another vote for the reciprocating saw, I used one of these doing a similar job, the blades are quite flexible so you should be able to get most of the nails.

This is powered, a battery job would be ten times better. Just make sure you get a few spare blades though.

think it's because when you're screwing them down you distort the ridges.
