What is the best method for cutting rubber floor mats? We have some 1 m x 1 m x 22 mm thick which will need some alterations.

Bend and pull. Bend the mat over an edge of some sort, slice half way through, have a helper pull on the smaller off cut while you slice the rest of the mat. Or find a combination that works for you, they slice beautifully if you can keep the load off the blade.

OR a longer blade like a machete and saw back and forth while pulling the pieces apart.

Silicone spray on the blade seems to help keep them clean, or maybe soapy water like mounting tires?

If you can borrow a multi cutter electric power tool, they’re the job for doing a lot. They vibrate to cut through the rubber. I borrowed one to refit some mats that had bubbled after a few years. Much easier than bending them and a knife.

older multi tools with screw to hold the blade rather than quick release and a stanley carpet blade with one end hooked around the screw makes an awesome cutting tool
