Cutting the Wrong Field

I cut a field of hay a few miles away and next door were some lovely silage fields. The owner farms 3 miles away and will never be there apart from silage time. I wondered if anyone has cut, ploughed or sprayed the wrong field because nobody was around.
Or maybe cut and baled it BECAUSE the owner wasn't around?

Yep, I started ploughing the wrong field. Well, actually it was the right one, he said "3rd on the left past the cowshed" but actually meant the second on the left.

I'd just marked it out when he showed up, so I tipped the skims back in and he rolled them down with his quad, and I got to plough that one next year.

We also put seed on the wrong paddock this year, thought it was mighty rough and that would have been why, it had only been disced once. Still grew a 15TDM/ha crop 🙂

My brother went to bale a few fields last year got into the first field the headland was baled into rounds rung the owner and he said yes someone had been and got the wrong field and presumably found out when he’d done the headland. Also I’ve had a phone call from my cousin after he walked round the corner to the dealer taking his combine to bits when he was supposed to be mending ours

I know of a field of grass keep bought off the City Council, farmer cut it tedded it for a few days, rowed it up ready to bale the next day. When he turned up with the baler the field had been cleared!

Easy to work out who had done it as rthey had the gear to bale and clear a field in a couple of hours. But police weren't interested

I went and baled the outside rounds of the wrong hay field 5 miles away a few years ago. Realised my mistake when the rest of the gang turned up on the way to the right field. Packed up fairly sharpish and moved on. Nice stuff so no harm done.

Took Mum out for lunch, left Prince Pooper in charge of setting the contractor off to bale straw in the swath bought from a neighbour. He met the lad 200 yards from the field and because there was a slurry tanker blocking the lane, he gave the lad the map with the field clearly marked and drove home.

Diverted that way on the way back with Mum to see how he was getting on and he was in the wrong sodding field. Phoned the farm foreman to apologise and see if he wanted us to swap fields, he was fortunately very laid back about it all. Turns out the straw merchant he had sold that field too had not exactly been in a hurry to get it cleared for them and they wanted it turned round quickly so we were actually doing them a favour.

Cut the wrong field once was only three acres instead of the course acre one next to it, and sprayed the wrong field for thistles once, only partly my fault as the farmer and agronomist both agreed they wanted me to spray field by name, the problem was the farmer called one field that name the agronomist called the next door field that name.
Lad I knew many years rolled a new grass ley about a month before it should have been cut instead of the next field, I believe his parentage was questioned by the farmet
