CVX on Diet Feeder

Any tips for driving intermittently along feed barrier with CVX, and trying to rev it up, without it accelerating its ground speed?

Our diet feeder is on a dyna vt , set the PTO speed then drive it in pedal mode & it works great

I get what you're trying to do I do it with my JD but it's just a case of giving it more revs with the foot throttle but I suspect your cvx you'll use your pedal for speed / stopping and starting and have to play with hand throttle for more revs

I'm confused, surely with any CVT machine you set the PTO in gear, use the hand throttle to get the PTO to the right speed and then use the pedal to move as required?

Diet feeder is a funny 1 you sometimes need to spin it faster to empty it depending on what you've got in it . But yes for most things you'll not be far off

I confess I have never used a diet feeder on a CVT tractor, but I have used a CVT tractor before. Once the PTO speed is dialled in (not even a true hand throttle these days, you just dial up the computer to tell it what you want) you just push the stick forward/back or use the pedal. It's poetry.

Yeah but diet feeder is one of them things if you're romping down a 200 ft shed chucking out a whole load you can do that.
But if you're feeding small batches or wanting 20kgs to a single pen on the way past you play with pto speed a lot !!

Been running the diet feeder on a Fendt 716 (old type) for a few years. It’s perfect for the job, tend to use preset revs min and max speed then drive on the foot pedal. Can always put it in 1000 pto to spin it right empty.

For MF DynaVT cvt tractors, set two engine speed memories and the hand/foot throttle controls to alter forward speed only and with a maximum forward speed set just above the anticipated maximum required speed. This gives the widest range of movement and finest adjustment of forward speed. The engine speed memories can be set for around 1400 rpm for normal emptying and 2000 rpm for that final two hundred kilos or so at the end that is so slow to exit the machine. This is using ‘forager mode’ or whatever its called these days.

Yes, but if you touch either clutch or brake pedal, to slow down a bit, forward movement stops.

Why would you touch the clutch on a cvt? Drive on pedal mode and won't need to touch the brakes either on a feeder

On my Cvx I’ve the pto speed set using hms,this in effect gives you another x2 engine speeds that are higher with the pre-set buttons on the pad.

I've noticed the clutch pedal causes a lot of bad habits on CVT's.
Best advice is to simply drive it like a hydrostat and completely forget that there even is a clutch pedal, after all it really is just an improved hydro.

I would just set a pre set engine rpm with the button or the hand trottle. That's what I have done when I wanted to maintain a PTO speed while altering the ground speed.

On my Jd and Fendt tractors the only time you need the clutch is to start the tractor. My preference with a diet feeder is to use the foot pedal to control speed but there is no reason you can’t use the joystick

Yes, the clutch pedal really doesn't work well to control forward speed.
I'll try driving it today on the pedal or stick and see how we get on.
