Cyclone v McConnell.

I sprayed a large field for rushes and was going to top it, over the winter and get it cleaned of for the spring, but my old teagle topper has had it, its needing a heavier, stronger machine to cut them off, those cyclones make a great job but are 5grand+, the McConnell are very well built. Any ideas??

I hired a cyclone for a day to cut rushes. it was ok. I bought a secondhand reconditioned rhino though, yes it is heavier to lift but it beats the cyclone for cutting, in my view.

My 3m cyclone when it hits an object breaks the shear bolt and generally will also shear one of the two bolts that hold the hanger of the long flails onto the spinning disc. Once that happens the flail gets wedged in a non cutting position by a steel spacer that has moved as a result of one those two bolts been broken. To get the flail out into the working position and to line up the steel spacers is a pain in butt. That’s one of the many faults of the cyclone. Would not recommend one and would put a trailed offset machine way ahead of it.

I'd have to agree. The Major works well in the right conditions (but doesn't every machine), it strikes me as a good idea let down by some hasty engineering.
