Dad needs a new truck

Ideas please.
dads always run a 2wd single cab pick up. Suits him perfectly. He's retired now but still "potters about".
A year ago his Nissan suffered the chassis rot and was scrapped. I persuaded him that a little 4x4 was the way forward as he no longer needed the load space so bought a swb RAV4. I think it's ideal but he's never taken to it. Anyway the clutch has gone and it's not economical to repair.

He still pines for a pick up but doesn't want a double cab.
Do the little vw caddy type things still exist? Or anything similar?

Proton jumbuck if you can find one. Had one in 2005 was a no frills pick up mainly based on a Mitsubishi evo 3? I think .1.5 Petrol

There is a company that turns the Suzuki Jimmy in to a pick up. Always look handy

One passes my road end and the chaps modified it with what looks to be an upright exhaust off a mf135 behind the cab.
