Once got a phone call from my brothers girlfriend after she had finished work, about 10pm, saying all the lights on her car had stopped working.

Went round to where she worked, about 2 miles away. She was panicking. Got in turned the lights on, and they all came on. Turned out she was turning the wrong stalk and putting the rear wiper on. God knows how you can forget where the lights are when she had owned the car for 2 years and finishs work in the dark every night.

About 6 months later got a phone call off her saying the key wont turn, told her to wiggle the steering wheel as the steering lock will be on, "no it still not turning". Went down to their house, gave the wheel a wiggle and it turned straight away.

Shes definitely not the brightest
worked as an RAC patrol for a few years 10 years ago and saw loads of things like that.
went to a vectra at tescos with the owner saying her car wont unlock would i break into it for her.
after i'd got into it the key wouldnt turn in the ignition!!
took the key off her to check it and pressed the button only to see a vectra 3 rows away indicators flashing as i locked and unlocked it :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Had to break in to loads of cars but that was the only one i had to lock up again before the owner came out:banghead:

My daughter came home for Christmas in her new car one year. It was a filthy time on the roads and she worried by announcing that she was going off Boxing Day to pick up 2 friends then drive to Gatwick for skiing trip. Dad goes all protective, I had better check over your car . Went out washed the screens , checked the car then topped up the washer bottle or so I thought. Actually was the brakes I had topped with washer fluid. It was opposite side to old car! Mass panic as I realised finding fresh brake fluid on Christmas Day was not easy!
I am sure I have mentioned this before , but my mates Mum (whos sadly passed recently) was told to keep her eye on the water in his Mini 850.
So she did as told and he discovered she had taken the rocker cap off and filled it with water (as it needed it !!)

Motorcycle tyre repair kit - got my spare-less car to a tyre depot before now, kept speed down to 30mph tho.

if you use those CO2 bottles to inflate a tyre, do use, at the very least, gloves if they do not come with a holder. it is not pleasant finding your hand frozen to one, as I found out one day! My mate was about to whip out his de icing kit, thankfully a near by puddle did the trick;) but it b**** well stung for a few days. one of the other riders was a bit disappointed, she could see what he was about use, but cycling gear prevents, too prompt a response:):):)

another good one was a chap had lost his keys to his car on the beach at cleethorpes with 2 young special needs kids with him and really upset.
No problem I say Where do you live?
2 miles away he says
No problem I'll take you home for your spare key
That would be brilliant he says and I feel like a knight in shining armour (y)
Drive to his house and as we pull up his face drops!
Whats wrong I say?
House keys are on same keyring as car keys he says:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
Had to pick the lock on his brand new pvc double lock front door!!!!
About 2 mins later we are in (scary how easy it was)
spare car keys and house keys collected and took him back for his car.
The kids actually loved being in the big orange van so all was good(y)(y)

I wouldn't even consider going outback with out two spare wheels and some additional method of puncture repair.
I read an autobiography of a surveyor who was contracted to survey the Woomera range. He used a series 1 LR and carried 6 spares. Start out in the morning with the 6 all ready for use. After 7 punctures he would stop and repair them all and then carry on. In bad country he might achieve half a mile with the 7, (mulga?).

Be grateful, it could be worse. She could be YOUR girlfriend.....

A good friend ( sadly passed now ) had served in the RAF in WW2.
The young WAAF’s that did the majority of driving jobs on the airfield were obviously of great interest to him. They had some ‘new’ girls turn up, and some of them were dispatched as fuel truck drivers. They had been shown on vehicles the usual basics of oil, water, fuel, tyres etc.
As he watched one morning, one girl went to her truck and pulled out the dipstick, only to see the oil was a bit below the mark.
She then went to the truck parked next to hers, and pulled out this ones dipstick, which read all ok.
So she inserted that trucks dipstick into her truck, and drove away !!

Sorted.
