Well from all the comments I have come to the conclusion it's 50;50

So ive decided to spray this week then direct Drill some oats in this will give me some time to maybe find a combine suitable or someone to do it for me.

Just whole crop it

I did exactly the same 30 years ago as you it worked however the big problem was agronomy
By the time you realise you have weeds and find an agronomist that will actually turn up and tell you that the weeds are too strong and there’s nothing on the market will touch them and you have a pain in the arse time trying to combine redshank and barley which will heat up in storage and ruin the grain you get off
So get on the chemicals sharpish is my best advice and have a good go

Dd after grass shouldnt be many weeds
Oats should outcompete mostly
