Dairy cake rejection

To do that, you need leverage.
Quote 'representative sample' (i.e a sample quartered, mixed, quartered again and then tested) and get that analysed. Mention trading standards, sale of goods Act and anything else relevant to your losses, and catalogue your losses.

That depends on why the 'out of spec' occurred, which could be too high/low protein or something as nasty as mould contamination.

And yes, we've been there.....

You don't need leverage- you need to buy from a decent company who aren't changing your ration to suit themselves.

By out of spec I mean the particle size is wrong or it doesn't pass the holmans test (pellets too hard/soft). Mouldy cake just isn't on and should be dumped. Protein too high or low is no issue as it can be blended down or up accordingly before being put through the die again. Dusty material can also usually be reformulated too.

Feed mill I deliver too has multiple loads a day of screening pellets delivered. They re mill them and use as filler. nothing like buying a quality product.
Thought it was standard practice for feed mills to include a percentage of 'rework' into manufactured feeds
Bit odd to be buying in 'rework' though 🤔 unless they own multiple mills and it is coming from another site
I wouldn't call it filler either, it's a finished product that could potentially have been a higher spec than the feed its mixed into

It may be moved around to avoid the need to change dies or get into changing batches around. It isn't filler.
