Might be wrong but think Tarbrax might have some former opencast ground, also shotts might not be the friendliest climate.

The layout of the sheds also makes me feel a bit ill.

It also has plenty land, and some ripe for future development !! Know the guys very well .

Campbeltown is also some of the best grass growing part of Scotland, same Gulf Stream.

It is well out of the way, but if the creamery sale goes ahead things could be good down there. If not then a lot of farms in that area will get very cheap very quickly

Tried last year to buy another neighbour and was beaten buy a guy from Yorkshire, this time Creamery is the problem !!

I went to see my brother in California few years ago. Although very impressive the dairy, veg and fruit/ nut farming over there seemed completely unsustainable.

It doesn’t rain, it’s baking hot and everything is reliant on irrigation. Surely at some point the water will run out?

I went on nights out in Ayr, Kilmarnock and Irvine in my student days- definitely more Wild West than anything I’ve seen in the US!

I think all the water comes from the Sierra Nevada mountain range snow melt. Runs hundreds of miles through a network of channels and pipes,no pumps ,just gravity. Designed I think by a Northern Irish guy, I watched a programme about it years ago.

How much are FM planning to scale back production at campbeltown? I take it they will ship out the surplus.

That’s the trouble with the cheese business hell of a lot of money tied up in maturing cheese

Why not make a different cheese like mozzarella quick turn around in product and money.

To be fair if they don’t get the creamy of the ground I don’t think there is many other buyers in their area. So doesn’t matter what they will pay you need someone to take the milk
