I agree about the name, and would have tried to change it to "something else" hills.Don't worry I’m going nowhere near that TB area . I didn’t even get as far as checking the flood situation when I saw the area it was in. Husband has decided he can’t possibly bring himself to look at a place that calls itself Mouldyhills either . My drawing board is getting pretty tired now
Don't be put off by the name, it's got a lot going for it, mostly ploughable for grass rotation, steading fairly central, go see it both of you, if only for a comparison to other places, under right management would grow lots of grass,Don't worry I’m going nowhere near that TB area . I have been at it a couple of times years ago, it has a lot of potential that farm
It is not even on a hill really, very gently slopping to the south to catch the sun on most of it,I agree about the name, and would have tried to change it to "something else" hills.
"Moneyhill" then . I know of two farms called "Make-me-rich".It is not even on a hill really, very gently slopping to the south to catch the sun on most of it,

Cannot be much good, “Made-me-rich”, that would be the farm to have!"Moneyhill" then . I know of two farms called "Make-me-rich".

You will struggle to find a farm suitable for dairy, in a milk field and not in a TB area. I had being buying cows out of Exeter from a farmer in Sussex. He was in a TB4 area but has just gone down with TB.Don't worry I’m going nowhere near that TB area . I didn’t even get as far as checking the flood situation when I saw the area it was in. Mouldyhills has to be some sort of local dialect/throwback/landmark name surely? Especially since it’s not actually hilly. It does look a nice spot but unfortunately our surname would make an excellent combination for name calling when joined with Mouldyhills . And I suspect that the locals would outright refuse to accept the rename matter how hard you tried. It is not even on a hill really, very gently slopping to the south to catch the sun on most of it,

Yes but ending up with TB in the end and deliberately buying into 6 monthly testing are two very different things….! Plus it would have implications for our herd back home testing wise and that’s not fair to anyone to intentionally make everyone’s lives more difficult. If a TB4 farm doesn’t come up then it doesn’t come up, it most definitely is the hill I’m willing to die upon- Mouldy or otherwise! You will struggle to find a farm suitable for dairy, in a milk field and not in a TB area. In a previous life, I farmed in south Shropshire. We were in a TB4 area, closed herd but still went down with TB, as did all our neighbours on the contiguous test. It is now endemic in that region. Have badgers or deer and you will get TB regardless of cattle movements. If TB is of that much concern erect an electric ring fence around your farm and buy where you want to live.
Just because it’s in a high incidence area doesn’t mean it has TB. Some farms around here have never had Tb, we live with it. Check out its history, you may be lucky.Yes but ending up with TB in the end and deliberately buying into 6 monthly testing are two very different things….! Oh I’m not suggesting it definitely has it, but regardless of whether it does or doesn’t you still have the increased testing frequency to deal with. And I’m not going make a conscious decision to inflict that chew on on ourselves!Just because it’s in a high incidence area doesn’t mean it has TB. Annual testing normally, unlucky if you have a contiguous test.Oh I’m not suggesting it definitely has it, but regardless of whether it does or doesn’t you still have the increased testing frequency to deal with. And I’m not going make a conscious decision to inflict that chew on on ourselves!
Its not "Oldough" or "Bread" is it?........ Completely off topic but in our local paper last night,in the Births column, parents named their boy "Kell",with a surname "Hogg".......... a nailed on cert for a nickname of cornflake..............Could be worse i suppose,at least its not a Richard Head one.Mouldyhills has to be some sort of local dialect/throwback/landmark name surely? Not quite that bad . I do have a friend who wanted to name her son Harry, entirely forgetting that her surname is BowIts not "Oldough" or "Bread" is it?........ Surely if you're in all year round you could badger proof the farm so you shouldn't be able to get tb or atleast reduce the risk massively?Yes but ending up with TB in the end and deliberately buying into 6 monthly testing are two very different things….! Yeah we have no concerns about actually getting TB because of being a housed and closed herd, just don’t want the hassle of deliberately moving to somewhere that tests far more frequently than we currently do (because it’s a chew on ).Surely if you're in all year round you could badger proof the farm so you shouldn't be able to get tb or atleast reduce the risk massively?
Don't worry about the name it doesn't mean anything, mines called Roses and it's been anything but rosy so far
But you would still rather it be called Roses Bower than Clarty Sh!tehole.Surely if you're in all year round you could badger proof the farm so you shouldn't be able to get tb or atleast reduce the risk massively?
