Western Ayrshire looked ok but Southern and Eastern are grim with some parts in the East resembling a nuclear holocaust !!!Take your pick, Caledonian cheese is popular for block calving with no spring penalty

Area near New Cumnock was desperate, never seen an area so deprived ,even the timber on the boarded up houses/shops had been on so long it was rottenI wasnt aware there was a Western Ayrshire. I think we call that the sea. Some of the best dairy units are in East Ayrshire.

Just personal opinion but I think there is going to be a lot of musical chairs between milk companies over the next couple of years and opportunities for new entrants.Maybe a Jersey contract with Graham’s but that must be near saturated aswell

Also any dairy company wanting to go net zero will need to have enough land (managed properly) banked through the dairy farmers that supply them. Or they will need to source carbon credits elsewhere.
Yep.In Ayrshire??
You spend more time looking over the gate at it then making use of it !!It can grow a lot of grass but in a shorter window

What was the last good dairy to come on for sale in Ayrshire? Always looking but don’t remember many for yearsI think the important thing to remember is that some farmers have a £1M to spend on a dairy farm and some have £5M, some want robots with cows inside all year around, some want cows out grazing on a forage system. This area like Cumbria still has family farms and farmers that milk their own cows. If you don’t like that system don’t come here. Bare silage land where I stay may be cheap to buy but good farms are still in demand and are scarce.
Dumfries looked the business for farmingIt is bleak round there, yes. Ex mining area.
Down closer to Ayr is where you need to be, either that or go down to Dumfries.
