Dairy herd average

West Virginia is dirt cheap. Though it is a bit of different landscape than what you are used to. Mountains and trees. Not to mention real backwoods folks. Remember, each state in the US is different.

Personally Australia is to hot for me and Canada is to much "Canada" for me. :)

too much Canada? Go on expand this please! ;)

£10000, $16000 per acre.

England is the most densely populated of the bigger countries in Europe. Up here in Scotland decent dairy ground can be had at £3000 per acre, but the weathers shite.

I didn't think there would be much decent land available at 3k an acre anymore

If I ever move out of country I'm heading for the UK, but I refuse to milk cows.

Canada is the red headed step child of America. It's different. Half the people speak an improper version of French and those people are the utmost rudest people I have ever met besides the real french.

Really? I heard the Canadians were very polite rule followers, or is that just the English speakers?

When I was in Canada. Particularly in the west I found everyone I spoke to very polite n welcoming.
Bit less pleasent by the time I got to Toronto

i found everyone in usa and canada very polite and helpful except every one who worked in the airports. they were a bunch of awkward miserable sods. i went to the usa wanting to see the country (scenery) but expecting to hate the people but my opinion of the place and people changed hugely (once out of the airport). Two of my best holidays were in usa and hopefully many more.

Just think how much more you could get if you bothered firing the parlour up in the afternoon as well!

Were down to about 1.1kg ms at the moment and I feel I'm wasting my time milking 2x day. What are yours doing on a daily basis at the moment?

Our annual average is about 4500 @ 5.8 and 3.8.
You wanna feed a bit more cake, we get 5300 at 5.4% fat and 3.9% protein from 1.2 tonne of cake. Nearly 70% yield from forage.
Still yielding 13 a day at 6.5 and 4.5 at the moment. Go to once a day at Xmas and dry off in mid jan

There isn't, minimum 5k an acre and not great land at that either
Local dairy farm (200 acres, no house or sheds as they were developed into housing) sold for £500,000 in 2010. Was bought by a non agricultural type and is now let out. Middle of the road type silage ground mostly. Let out at £110/acre, with two cuts of silage being taken.

Fair enough down in the South West and Ayrshire decent dairy silage land could go for quite a lot more than that. Especially if near a digester or capable of growing maize.

where is local?

270 cows(depending on tb) 6,400 litres 4.6bf 3.58 protein.
my experiences of America and Canada are loads of guns but the Canadians don't kill each other as much. democracies but the Canadian version works. Free market economies but the distribution between capital and labour seems to work much better in Canada and overt racism doesn't seem to exist to the same degree north of the border. the world does need a police man and America puts it people in harms way a lot I just wish the neocoms of the Bush era had treaded a bit more lightly.America is an amazing place and I Loved traveling around both by the way but I know where I felt safest.

GUNS!? GUNS!?!? Here?! Naw. I'm never further than five foot away from a firearm.

I'm kidding. To be honest there are gun nuts then there are regular people with a load of them. I'm the latter. But the gun violence is rampant I'd say. Fight fire with fire.

And Canada is less racist because there is only one black guy, his name is Fred. But the different races for the most part are in the US.

I'm a bit of a "as long as the government stays out of my business and doesn't tax me to the point where my pants are down, I don't care" kinda guy. There are a bunch of looneys in the federal government. I'm just waiting for them to die off, seems like their districts are full of the same looneys.

We just need to gather up all the neo conservatives (your dick cheneys) extreme liberals (Nancy pelosi's) and race baiters (Al Sharpton) and toss them in the ocean.

There are definitely places where a white man don't walk. And that's fine with me, I don't need to walk down that road anyhow.

I love the comment about Fred being the only black guy in Canada. Was very funny!
