Dairyman required

Hi not been on here for ages. Been rather busy having a wee baby boy and farm seems to be running me ragged! My stockman left me last week. Perfect timing after just having a baby. We are located south west Scotland and I require a dairyman, 250 cows in the herd, milking takes 2 1/2 hours washed up. Extra jobs could be added to the daily routine if keen. We are very flexible and my outlook on the farm is to enjoy it and to enjoy life, time off is essential to have a life!! 2 bedroom bungalow 500 yards from the farm if required

Would any of you consider staff from an agency ?
Potentially, I don’t really know how to go about getting a man! Never been in this position of looking as all of our men have come to me or dad. Always up for giving someone a chance. Do you know of any agencies? Thing is they want a cut of their wage which puts their wage up!

Stick a card up in the local newsagents, i've had a few local people turn up here looking for work just from word of mouth that we might be looking for someone. Usually someone leaves and we've been lucky enough to fill the position quickly then a few weeks or months later someone will turn up having heard there's a job going. A house being available is a big attraction for some people.

Stick an add up on Facebook, it's amazing how quickly you'll find someone just by someone being friends with someone else who is friends with someone else etc it's how I found my new job

Thanks for your posts lads.was in a bit of a kafuffle as we’ve never had anyone leave before! Everyone up until now has been happy in their house and retired on the farm! But this was a young fella and quite rightly fancied a change. @kiwi pom am I being really stupid here but what’s the difference between herdsman and dairyman?? ??

More and more female's milking cows, great to see. They have a bit more empathy and patience, and a quieter around the herd.

I would advertise for a Dairy Person, Male or Female.
