Dairy co-op Dale Farm has set its prices for Northern Irish and British milk supplies respectively for the months of April and May.

The board of the co-op has decided to hold both of these values on the previous prices.

Northern Ireland-based suppliers will receive 25.5p/L, plus a 0.3p/L loyalty bonus, for supplies in April.

This was the same as the offering made for March supplies, and 0.2p/L lower than the price before that.

Meanwhile, suppliers in Britain will receive 26.75p/L for their supplies in May.

This is again the same as the offering for April, though 1p/L short of the price for March supplies.

Northern Irish prices

On Monday, May 13, Lakeland announced its price for its Northern Irish suppliers in April – deciding to hold the figure from March.

Its suppliers will receive 25.25p/L for their efforts last month.

A Lakeland spokesperson argued: “The ongoing uncertainty in the European dairy markets continues to cast a shadow on the sector.

“In terms of production, the news is positive, with supply in the main milk producing countries under pressure. However, in terms of demand, the situation is sluggish in Europe, with stores still full of product as a result of the uncertainty of Brexit,” continued the spokesperson.
