How to get rid

Get your pH and Phosphate to the upper limit they hate both
Sticking my neck out and saying your low on one or the other
Not so sure about that; seems a bit like 'rushes like acidity and wetness' - whereas they are happy elsewhere and really just tolerate those conditions better than others.

I'll bet there are plenty on here with examples of dandelions prospering on limestone where there's been phosphate dumped by the ton; certainly on parts our old place on the edge of the Chilterns we had chalk nigh on the surface and dandelions seemed happy with that and P being present... barstewards. :(

There is nothing wrong whatsoever with Dandelions. Stock will graze them, they are good for their health, and second-cut hay or haylage can have dandelion leaves as big as chicory leaves.

And as Sid said, their deep tap roots have all sorts of benefits. And if you run out of coffee or need a diuretic.... Didn't they used to call them ''pissthebeds''?

Pray tell, what are these 'dandelions' you all write of? :angelic:

“I do believe that they are a wildflower of yellow hue Sire: apparently abundant in such common and barren lands that are much less fertile than your own verdant and blessed meadows my Lord.

Some of the lower peasantry do, I am told, also refer to them as ‘pissthebeds’ in reference to the naughty and base habits of their kind, and their inability to afford the beautifully hand painted china chamber pots as used by gentry such as your most gracious self Sire: and which, if granted your most esteemed permission, I am honoured to be about to empty, my Lord.”

Glad to read that at least one of you gogs has finally come to terms with your status in the great scheme of things; not sure about elevating you to the level of p!ss-pot emptier though...

The only disadvantage of dandelions is that when they are in flower, some of your neighbours think you have a field of buttercups.

And if you sow swedes and end up with a field full of charlock, the same neighbours think you have a field of oil-seed rape.

And if any of you want to be useful, tell me how I can get rid of this ridiculous American spellcheck. It won't let me swear, and even thinks I should refer to my neighbours as neighbors. Twaats.

This ^^^

Cows eat more, drink more, make more milk, calves make more meat or the sweatline is further up the tank

Just because Cotswolds don't put the seed in their mix doesn't mean it's a pest

That's why they are growing , prolifically,
Seed that's blown in the wind ,millions of them , grass is slow so they spied their chance
But my exert in the subject says Phosphate and Lime will see them off
Stopping overgrazing will see them off.

The small field beside our lime and fertiliser store is full of yellow flowers, in theory it should be the best-fed paddock in all the land. But it struggles like mad to outcompete the yellow flowering plants because the sheep are always taking gobfuls of grass off it then running away from the roadside when vehicles go by.

If it had a year off grazing the grass would have them stuffed because everything is there except for rest
