Dash Cam

Bit of a theme there!![emoji300]️☃

Any reason for mounting on the rear view @Cowabunga ?
Think I may invest in one of these!

That was just a random video that happened to be a snowy one. However, a major theme of most such videos is that they are overwhelmingly Russian. The Russians appear, on the face of it, to be absolute idiots on the road. Which is probably why so many of them have dash cams.

I need to get a couple of these. Had somebody run into me a few months ago. Narrow road so insurance say it will be settled on a 50 50 basis. However the person who hit me blamed me and called the police and police blamed me but sadly I can't really prove much so I'm thinking a cam in each vehicle would be good investment
Don't waste your money on one that has satellite positioning and speed recording. You will know where you have an accident and the speed just might incriminate you in as many cases as not.

Carmarthen Cameras are selling these for £35 inclusive of VAT. Currys/PCWorld are now selling something for a similar price but even smaller and I'm not sure that it has a viewing screen. With the Konig you can rewind and view on the device if you feel the need.

While cameras are a hot topic, I've got an immaculate Panasonic G6 camera, body only, surplus to requirements and now for sale, complete with box, charger, strap, CD and so on. I'll put it in the ads over the next few days and find the shutter and flash count, which is low. Its a superb camera and I'm keeping one myself but getting a new G7 instead of this one, purely because I'm a sucker for gadgets.

It can be useful to see the other idiots. Middle lane hogger here from July.

That's better. Can see it now.

Which reminds me of another setting on mine. The sound recording is turned off. Not sure why I would want sound recording unless it was to record a conversation or deal done in the car. It can easily be switched on or off as needed. All I want is the video for that once in a blue moon incident.

I tend to forget about the sound as all I have on the pc is a pair of ear pieces. I assume some kind of 80's rock classic with me singing along?

The £10 ones from china work ok mostly, Had 2 duff ones that were replaced. vishion quality aint top class, but good enough.
They hardly use any juice so can be left on for days without flatening a car battery.
leaving the mike on can be interesting if you lend somebody the car!!!, the mikes pick up everything

I have one in the pickup.

I bought it because I keep getting badly cut up on the motorway - people see a big trailer and simply have to get around it, whether it's safe or not.

All it's caught up to now is a pheasant flying in to my £550 headlight.

I have a cheapy, I think it cost £15 at my local petrol station. Its used at the back and has been OK for the 3 months its been used as far as reliability goes, but I'm not holding my breath. The major drawbacks are that its field of view is very narrow, so it doesn't record much to the sides, and that it is poor at adjusting exposure and has a low dynamic range in changing light, bright light and is very poor in low light. That's in comparison with my front dash cam, which is in a different league but costs £85 or so today.

This is mine. It's very good, too.
