David Brown 1410 fuel tank

I have the above, 4 wd. Had it for 25 years actually. She is still working, not retired (y)
She has developed a fuel leak, sometimes quite fast, then sometimes no leak at all. I can see all (well both) the fuel pipes and it's not coming from there. It's not possible to see where it actually comes from but it must be from the bottom of the tank.
Went to remove the tank today but it seems impossible:scratchhead:. Does anyone have any inside information about how you remove these. To keep her working we have strapped a little drum to the steps but I do hope to be able to make a proper repair, so any guidance would be much appreciated (y)

If it has the DB Q cab, you'll have to lift it off or else split at the clutch housing and wheel the engine forward to get the tank out. If it has the high cab with the silly doors,I think the windscreen and frame will come out.I removed a tank from an early 995 by removing the steering box but it had that narrow door cab and simple dash. Am guessing your 1410 has the Q version or perhaps a Sekura? Looks like it would need lifted up or off as well if it has.......

Well we looked for some time and just couldn't see how it is possible. Yes, a q cab. The chap I was with wanted to attack the cab with a disc cutter, up to the windscreen to make a slot to remove but it wasn't having that.
Actually, I just changed the oil in a jd 6930, so,I had a jd metal 50lt barrel so that was pretty handy.
Just looking at the net, there is something you can pour in?

Any experiences on that?

Having researched this product, I see you need to remove the tank to use it :banghead:

Huh! Mine uses so little you have to loosen the filler cap to let some out:)

Could be the OP's problem...? It's not leaking, just using so little?

A friend of mine, who browses on here every now and again, used to harvest spuds with a DB 996 and Faun harvester, he would fill the tractor in the yard before going to the field, and then, each day, would take a gallon of fuel for the tractor, much to the amusement and disbelief of his neighbours.

Find the leak and weld up the hole (y) you're good at welding .

That was the plan Howard. In my time I have had many broooons. As I said above because the 1410 was by far the most powerful 4 cyl, it has this much deeper tank than 990, 995 etc etc (I think I had them all:whistle:), so the bottom is so close to the gearbox and the cab around it, you just can't see where the problem is, much less fix it
