David Brown 885 - Lift not going down

I have a 1979 David Brown (Case) 885 tractor that the lift will not go all the way down. It will set plows on the ground but will go no deeper. It makes no difference where the selector switch is positioned, height or depth. and with or without impliments attached, it likes about 10 inches going all the way down where it should. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

It has a lock but it is not in the locked position and when engaged it holds the lift arms completley up to their max. position. The lift will go most of the way down, within 10 inches or a foot of where it should and stops. I

Are they the genuine lower links, often tractors have been matched to the wrong parts and that can be the result

Yes, they are original. I have had the tractor since 1980 and everything worked fine, nothing was changed. I stared to plow one day and the lift would not go down enough to sink the plows in the ground. I have tried most everything I know to try. Our Case dealer knows nothing about the David Brown. I was hoping someone may have some insight on this problem. Thank you for the reply.

I take it that you know that the quadrant lever must be in the raised position in order to move the selectamatic three position peg thingy (depth, height, tcu). Has it been forced at all? Something tells me that our 990 played up either not raising to top os similar to yours and it was the quadrant lever had either lost its position on the shaft or twisted it, therefore although the lever was at the bottom against the stop the internals were not. I just can’t remember what we did to sort it though sorry.
