Just heard re blood test. 22 fails. 6 need retesting and only 2 were positive on skin and blood and 2 incluncusives also positive with blood.
So guess that will be 29 to load next week as all inconclusives will probably be taken as well. Was only milking 72 with 2 freshly calfs about to be transferred to robots but one of those failed blood and one more to calf.

Why didn’d the first one count ,been clear here for 2 years ,if you get 3 years you bluddy lucky .
At WAG insistance ,we had to have a check test. We duly obliged, resulting in a clear test,I rang a month later to book a clearing test to be told the interval between the test and the last animal leaving the farm was too short so was invalid. Two points to note were that WAG were slow removing the animals post blood test and they approved the retest date.
Round here 6 months is the time clear atm. Don't worry though as WAG are winning the TB war,(By putting people out of business. )as there are less breakdowns!p:mad:

Compo not too bad tho. But a masive struggle to start with

March rates for non pedigree calved dairy animals over 20 months is £1223 head.

Great for NZ mongrels but not anything else with 4 quarters.

Suckler cows are only £881 head..

Problem is it isn't just the cost of buying another one in but the costs like vaccinations/ finding ones that are the same health status/ loss of income etc etc which are not covered.

I agree, you couldn't even rear a new one for £1200 much less buy a half decent cow from a reputable seller for that.
But cows bought in after the outbreak and lost later during the outbreak will be only paid for at half the compo rates @ £611.50 currently and that frightens the feck outa a new entrant like myself.
These cow's are fully organic and at a totally higher level aimed at a specific milk contract and won't be easy to replace.

In your situation you need to buy cows from a clean TB4 area if they will allow it and then house them 24/7 until you go clear.

Its the only way now with the compo reduced by 50% for bought in animals.
