DD, FYM and mob grazing

Hi all, complete DD novice here but looking a bit of advice. Plan to dd in a pretty diverse cover crop into to different situations with the view to mob grazing the crop during late autumn and into the winter. We have an old moore unidrill which i am going to use.

1st situation
Cover crop dd into a ryegrass/clover ley after a second cut of silage has been removed in mid to late july. I plan to drill then graze the field to really stunt the return of the grass as i would prefer not to kill the grass crop. I would like to spread FYM on aswell and i am wandering whether to spread directly after the silage has been removed, before i drill and graze it, or am I better waiting until after i drill and graze?

second situation

Should be simpler after WW which will be wholecropped sometime in August hopefully weather permitting. Again FYM and timing is my question here.

if anyone has experience of anything like this it would be great to here.

thanks
Jonny

How good is your spreader at giving an even spread and pulling the muck to pieces and not leaving lumps?

In the second scenario, it would be a good move to plant the cover crop as soon as the wholecrop is off if conditions are suitable

Thats something i was worried about if i spread after drilling then it could cover seeds too much. If spread before then the discs of the drill should cut through?
