DD on Dowdeswell

Hi folks,

Wondered if anyone could help me; I have a 7 furrow dowdeswell 145MA currently on UCN bodies. These bodies are useless for full inversion on my land. I do very little ploughing but what I do do is for burying any bg, and as such haven’t used this plough. Would DD bodies on this plough compete with the likes of a kverneland 28? I have heavy clay keuper marl and clay loam. i could buy an old lb 85 for a few k to run in furrow on my puma but willing to price metal on the dowdeswell. Worst nightmare would be new metal and finding it doesn’t invert it fully.
Thanks

It Wont be viable financially to change the bodies on it.
But anway...the dd will turnover well but the soil would need good moisture in it for it to work best. Not so good at all in the dry And skim working angles need scrutiny plus extensions added to make them catch all the bits.

no.28 not that special from what ive seen.

Better to look for a kuhn , the h4 mouldboard works reliably.

Or look abroad on agrifares or similar for a Rabe Albatross with 365 P bodies on.
Surely if its not a large acreage it wont need as many furrows.

You’re not wrong with the financial viability! I learnt I’d need all new metal/frogs. It’s extortionate. So I’ll be going for a second hand 5 furrow of some sort. Thanks for the reply’s.
