Seedlings coming up nicely there now. It was one of @Great In Grass ’s ‘special offer’ catch crop mixtures from last year, bought thinking it would be handy for overseeding.:)

Had 9 moles out of that 4ac field in the last few days, and still 2 more pesky ones left I think.
Have had 21 moles here from the 28 acres we have just bought, not quite your rate per acre. :D

Last one yesterday so will be on the look out for any that move into the old runs.Think I’ve had them all for now. (y)

Would have made a right mess of the reseed on 11 acres of it if I hadn’t caught the little blighters.

I do enjoy a bit of mole catching.

I have to admit that I haven't set a single trap over the last 2 years:facepalm:, so having a set to again now. I have ne block that has a road on 2 sides, a stone track on another, and arable fields on every other boundary. You'd think it would be easy to clear it and keep it clear....

Moles are odd. I have one field only 4 acres (the smallee wholecrop one)but theres always moles in it but not many in the fields around it. First year I started catching moles I caught 12 in that field but very few the other side of the road or in any of the fields bordering it. Next year there was a stupid amount again (8 maybe?) And I get 3 or 4 there every year in my annual spring campaign but not many in the fields around it still. I wonder why they like it there so much and more to the point were the hell are they all coming from :banghead::banghead:

Is it too late to DD overseed some grass?

Took third crop off last week and it was supposed to be drilled by now but he's been busy at silage, by now the existing grass has grown about 3" and it's october tomorrow?

Wondering if it's better left in the bag for next year after 1st crop maybe? Lancs area:scratchhead:

Edit it's a 5 year Hybrid/perennial mixture that's going in

Only thing I can see is the temperatures are predicted to be below the seasonal average for a couple of weeks so it may struggle if it is not in a warm spot or favourable climate.

I've put in 14 acres this week. If we get off with it up north should be alright in Lancs.

I assume you're not killing off the existing sward as you mentioned 'overseeding'? If that's the case, I would certainly leave it in the bag until next year now, especially if it's a 5 year mix, which will be less vigorous/competitive than a one/two year IRG type mix. You might get lucky of course, but the seed is too expensive for me to take that gamble at this time of year, unless the existing sward is bare and about buggered anyway.

Beet update
Measured about 12 1m2 areas, with the few issues I had with seed spacing there is a bit of variety in the crop. Best areas doing 180 ton/ha fresh weight of bulb, worst 65 ton. Average bulb fresh weight is 110 ton /ha. Top weights are more uniform at an average of 90 ton per ha.

Seems to be quite a variety in dm % quoted for lactimo from 15% up to 17.6%. If it was 16%dm that's 17.6 ton of dm/ha.

Tops about 12%dm so 10.8 ton /ha of them today.

The roots should bulk a bit yet but overall I'm pleased so far.
