Here you go @hally i have a few spare hubs so i did a couple this afternoon. Not bad job but would need taking to bits before drilling so think I'll do all my spares and then upgrade them as they fail. View attachment 440092
It'll make all the difference. When balers had non greasable bearings what a pain they were compared to modern auto greasing systems etc. It's such a smalll bearing though so don't put too much grease in and pop the seal

Been and done a few more today and the newer ones that came as spare with the drill have a small grub screw where the grease nipple goes! Excellent, just a 2 minute job to do them! Think I'll persevere next week and go over them all.

First run out today, spring barley into barley stubble, cows were on it through early winter so there was very little stubble left to hold the soil together so more soul moved than many of you would like i guess. Lot less moved than plough and power Harrow though!
See how it comes up now.

I bet that's got the neighbours peeping over the walls.
Yes most folk think I'm daft, but that happens whenever i try something different. In saying that i have got 3fields booked in to dd for other folk since the barley emerged! Worst bit is trying to convince them of the need for ph, p, k, surface conditions to be right. Most see it as an easy option to get seed in the ground. Im not going to do any unless they do the right preparation or I and the drill will get the blame!
Did 10ha of grass reseed for us on Friday, some into barley stubble and some into where swedes were, all drilled well hopefully see it emerging in a week or so. 4.6L of diesel per ha sown.

Looks awesome...will you roll it to increase tillers or what seed rate did u sow at?

Ant...
Was sown at 185kg\ha, i now wish I'd increased seed rate a little as tgw was poor.
I will wait a day or 2 yet re rolling as it's doing very well now that's it's had rain and warmth.

It is double sown at an angle so hopefully not too bad. the other angle strips aren't easy to see in the photo as not in line.
I think it will thicken in ok, this very sandy field if we had cultivated it would have had to be slurried to stop it blowing, i think dd will help it a lot long term.

Can never understand sowing grass in strips, all that open ground and the plants fighting against each other in the strip :banghead: but each to their own and it is coming well! I like your DD grain though :)
could be an advantage ...keeping clover out of the drill mix. then later spray off weed with cheap spray when it comes .......then broadcast on clover or even a bit of chicory or something ...and roll in (twice)
